Created in July 1987, Center State Teacher Center is one of over 130 teacher centers in New York State created for the purpose of enriching and expanding the professional and personal growth of teachers. The Center serves a primary service group of over 1,000 individuals and a secondary service group of close to 10,000 from Brookfield Central, Clinton Central, The House of the Good Shepherd, Marcy Correctional Facility, New York Mills Union Free, Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, Oriskany Central, St. Mary's in Clinton, Sauquoit Valley, Waterville Central, Westmoreland Central, Zion Child Care Center and Zion Nursery School. The Teacher Center is governed by a policy board consisting of sixteen public school teachers - two from each district and one representative from each of the following constituencies: non-public schools, business/industry, higher education, parents, superintendents and Oneida BOCES. The goals and programming of the Center have been determined by an evaluation process which includes a formal assessment process and continuous interviews, verbal suggestions and written requests.
